Here are some awesome items that we feel are important to have when whelping a female.  Not all of them are necessary but it will give you a good idea of the items you need to have before your female whelps.

SCHEDULE AN ULTRASOUND

30 days after your first artificial insemination, schedule an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy. This can be done through your vet, or at any reproduction clinic.

SWITCH TO PUPPY FOOD

Upon confirmation of pregnancy it is time to put your female on a high quality puppy food. We like to use Kirkland Signature – Nature's Domain (Puppy Food).

DEWCLAW REMOVAL AND

SCHEDULE INITIAL VET APPOINTMENT

Dewclaws should be removed on day 2 or 3. This is a good time to collect blood samples for genetic testing. Schedule the puppies initial vet appointment for around 8 weeks of age for health check and first round of vaccines.
